Premieră: un general sud-coreean comandă exercițiile comune cu trupele americane

Pentru prima dată, un general din Coreea de Sud comandă exerciții anuale comune cu forțele americane, a anunțat miercuri armata americană. E un pas spre obiectivul Seulului de a obține comanda forțelor aliate în cazul unui război?

Aliații au început luni cele mai mari exerciții militare comune din ultimii ani, cunoscute sub numele de Ulchi Freedom Shield, cu o reluare a antrenamentelor pe teren, cu scopul de a consolida pregătirea pentru eventualele agresiuni din partea Coreei de Nord.

Coreea de Sud comandă exerciții militare cu SUA

Exercițiile includ un „eveniment de antrenament de 11 zile simulat pe calculator, orientat spre apărare”, pentru a îmbunătăți pregătirea aliaților, au precizat Forțele americane din Coreea (USFK) într-un comunicat.

În cadrul exercițiului, generalul armatei americane Paul LaCamera, care comandă trupele USFK, Comandamentul Forțelor Combinate SUA-Coreea de Sud (CFC) și Comandamentul Națiunilor Unite (UNC), a făcut schimb de poziții cu adjunctul său, generalul sud-coreean Ahn Byung-seok, a precizat USFK.

Mutarea s-a bazat pe viitoarele planuri de comandă prezentate anul trecut de secretarii apărării din SUA și Coreea de Sud, a precizat LaCamera în declarație.

„Acest lucru este semnificativ deoarece, pentru prima dată, comandantul adjunct al CFC va prelua conducerea ca viitor comandant al CFC”, a adăugat el.

De la Războiul din Coreea din 1950-1953, armata americană și-a păstrat autoritatea de a controla sute de mii de forțe sud-coreene, alături de cele aproximativ 28.500 de militari americani staționați în țară, în cazul în care izbucnește un nou război. Președintele Yoon Suk-yeol a declarat că țara nu este pregătită să preia controlul operațional al acestor forțe comune, după ce un demers al predecesorului său, Moon Jae-in, s-a confruntat cu întârzieri din cauza pandemiei COVID-19 și a altor probleme. Yoon a citat nevoia unor capacități mai mari de supraveghere și recunoaștere, printre alți factori.

Ministrul sud-coreean al apărării Lee Jong-sup a participat la exercițiile de miercuri, despre care ministerul a declarat că au avut ca scop o mai bună descurajare și răspuns la amenințările nucleare și la amenințările cu arme de distrugere în masă (WMD) ale Coreei de Nord.
