Din lacul rus în puțul chinez? UE riscă să schimbe o dependență cu alta

Momentul adevărului la Comisia Europeană. Preşedinta Comisiei Europene, Ursula von der Leyen, a avertizat luni că UE trebuie să evite înlocuirea dependenţei de gazul şi petrolul rusesc cu dependenţa de China, pentru materiile prime necesare bateriilor din sfera energiilor regenerabile.

‘‘Trebuie să evităm căderea în aceeaşi dependenţă cum este cu petrolul şi gazul. Nu trebuie să substituim vechile dependenţe cu altele noi”, a subliniat Ursula von der Leyen în intervenţia sa la Forumul Strategic care se desfăşoară în oraşul sloven Bled, relatează agenţia EFE, preluată de Agerpres.

Tranziția ecologică va face UE dependentă de China?

Președinta Comisiei a semnalat că ”tranziţia verde şi digitală” va creşte enorm nevoia de materii prime, precum litiul pentru baterii, siliciul pentru semiconductori şi aşa-numitele pământuri rare necesare componentelor maşinilor electrice şi turbinelor eoliene. Cererea pentru astfel de materii prime s-ar putea dubla până în anul 2030. Astfel, în Europa cererea de baterii de litiu va creşte cu 40% pe an până în anul 2025.

Dar ”o ţară domină prelucrarea”, aceasta fiind China, a recunoscut preşedinta Comisiei Europene.

”Trebuie să ne asigurăm că accesul la aceste produse nu va fi folosit pentru a ne şantaja. Trebuie să diversificăm aprovizionarea şi să stabilim noi legături cu furnizori de încredere”, a concluzionat von der Leyen, anunţând totodată că va efectua curând o vizită în Canada, țară specializată, la rândul ei, în extracţia pământurilor rare.
