Canada: Șase milioane de hectare de pădure, mistuite de incendii

Şase milioane de hectare de pădure au fost distruse de incendii în Canada – o suprafaţă de 18 ori mai mare decât media ultimilor zece ani, informează guvernul țării, potrivit AFP.

„Canadienii se confruntă cu repercursiuni fără precedent din cauza incendiilor de pădure”, a declarat Jean-Yves Duclos, ministrul canadian al Sănătăţii, care a subliniat că cel mai îngrijorător lucru este că, probabil, vârful sezonului va fi înregistrat abia peste câteva săptămâni.

În total, 423 de incendii sunt active în ţară, dintre care jumătate sunt scăpate de sub control atât în estul, cât şi în vestul ţării, a precizat el.

Peste 100.000 de persoane au fost nevoite să-şi părăsească locuinţele, anul acesta, din cauza incendiilor.

„Indiferent unde locuieşti în Canada, poţi fi deranjat de fum”, a adăugat Theresa Tam, ofiţerul şef pentru sănătate publică din Canada.

Ea a avertizat în legătură cu numeroşii poluanţi şi, în special, cu particulele fine prezente în fum, care reprezintă cea mai mare ameninţare pentru sănătate.

În zonele foarte afectate de fumul de la incendii, autorităţile au deschis centre în care aerul este filtrat şi recomandă limitarea ieşirilor şi purtarea măştii în exterior.

Un nou val de căldură va afecta, începând de astăzi, o parte din estul Canadei şi în mai ales Quebec-ul. Sunt aşteptate temperaturi cu mult peste limita normală, în special în zonele afectate de incendiile forestiere.
